Jan 05 , 2006 - Thursday --- Flappy New Year --- Alright so I've put on a few pounds. ... New year's resolution is to lose weight! ... ... Just kidding, I think new year's resolutions are for retards. ... ... ... Well then call me retarded cause I actually got a gym membership today. ... Well it was actually so I could maintain my already impeccable physique. ... But really, it was so I could play basketball in their full size gymnasium. Or as the Brits at the club call it, the Central Sports Complex. (yeah, I dunno either) ... So 2005 has come and gone. ... But instead of boring you to death with revelations, resolutions and other long and pretentious sounding words that begin with the letter "r", I'm going to show you this: It's hilarious. I think Conan O'Brien himself must've contributed to some of the gold on this page. Anyhoo ... Shifting gears. ... This next little blurb is only going to be funny for Korean people who live in Toronto or at least have some idea about the city. Actually, it might not even be funny for you TO Koreans cause my jokes might actually suck. ... Anyway ... My trip home to Toronto/Waterloo was great. ... I hung out with a lot of Koreans (family) and got to see all my friends and stuff. .... Good times all around. ... I also got the chance to drive my car again, which was great. ... As I was driving the streets of Toronto, I couldn't help but notice a few signs and laugh as the funny thoughts poured into my head: I saw a sign for HAKIM optical while driving to my cousin's house. ... I couldn't help but think that HAKIM optical was actually a glasses retailer that was created by Koreans. ... A joint effort on part of the HA family, and the KIM family. ... Their two families had nerdy optometrist kids who married and their respective family optometrist practices were united. ... The families couldn't decide on a name for the new company since "gRasses" seemed too KimJongIl and "Kimchi Goggles" was already taken. ... Thus, "HA-KIM family optometrists" was born. ... Later in 1984 they decided to shorten the name to just "HAKIM optical" to save 47 cents a letter in the Yellowpages ad. ... moo haha. ... I laughed my ass off in the car. ... And then I saw the street I was driving on, thought a little more ... then laughed my ass off some more. ... ... Picture this: ... ... Park is the third most popular Korean name. ... Imagine if some family named their daughter Victoria Park? ... haha ... Now imagine if Victoria got married to some white guy named Jonathan Carmichael Avenue or something ... ... Then Victoria's name would be .... VICTORIA PARK AVENUE. .... ra hahaha ... phew I'm spent. ... I hope you're laughing now and you'll start commenting on my page to make me feel good. ... .... .... Okay one more. ... I couldn't sleep on the plane ride back to London. ... So instead of counting sheep (or my personal favourite, counting radioactive purple sheep being shot by Spaceman Spiff in a Duck Hunt style video game), I started thinking about names for bands, gangs, companies and more bands. ...
